Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! Windows 10 was once an Operating System that stood as the only real option for those who did heavy tasks such as gaming and content creation on their systems, but with some real competition in the land of Linux it's probably time you step away and use something that respects you for once. Thanks for watching!

  • I grew up using Linux, love it, and I really wish it was just easier to simply play games and use programs that aren't supported by Linux natively. If you know what you're doing, it's fine. If you don't, you spend 5 hours just to give up, swallow my pride, and install on Windows. I'm terrified of Windows 11 and I don't want it. At all. I've been gradually trying to figure out how to take my games with me during the switch but some of them just refuse to work and if they do work, it is just terribly broken (Escape From Tarkov). I wish I could have all the customization and ease of use of Nvidia drivers, supersampling, etc.

  • I used linux for 6 months, really recommend it, the only reason I stopped using linux is because I kinda turned off my computer while it was updating which would probably break any OS even windows, and It's funny because I actually learned a lot about computers when I tried to fix my own OS with chrooting but It didn't work at the end so I just reinstalled windows. I could have reinstalled linux instead of windows but my parents also used my computer from time to time so I always had to help them with the installation process of stuff so windows is easier, if you're middle aged It's the best option.

  • This is oversimplified nonsense that cherry picks what it loves and conveniently ignores the things it doesn't. If you want to use Linux, knock yourself out; your choice. If you want to use Windows, again, knock yourself out. Both are good. Both are bad.

  • So I did switch to Ubuntu and I have to say, bad advice man. Maybe it's because my GFX is NVidia, but my god... Ubuntu lacks basic features and bugs out every 30 minutes. After 4 hours of good audio, the audio drivers exploded, meaning that not only could I not hear anything, but the OS stopped generating sounds completely as the audio driver deleted itself or something. Constant video bugs, multiple monitor setup is clunky, lacks proper assignment features, and just does not make sense. Aesthetically, it looked like freeware because it is freeware. I did not like the desktop interface design philosophy or the workflow of the OS. I've used Suse and Fedora on other PCs and didn't have as many issues as Ubuntu did on my rig. Bad advice, sir.

  • the main thing that made me switch to linux was.... Windows is INFURIATING. Rage inducing. how many times must I endure updates that take 24 hours (or hang!) and then finally get control of my pc back only to be presented with all sorts of new 'features' that look like malware, which i have to spend ~20mins (at least) on finding how to disable them? Windows updates break stuff CONSTANTLY. At least when stuff breaks in Linux it's usually MY FAULT lmfao. And when I spend a long time trouble shooting on linux, it feels like information I could use again in the future. Whereas on windows, it seemed like they constantly changed the locations of items in the settings menus.... Trouble-shooting on windows always feels like such a pointless waste of time.

They managed to turn a basic bitch junior IT procedure like formatting a disk, creating partitions and mounting it into a 200 IQ badge of honor. Congrats, you can answer 3 questions off your A+ exam. • I basically have windows just for gaming. I don't care about anything else. Well, emulation is another thing I do, but that's still gaming so..... I will move to Linux, when every game and emulator has perfect Linux support, better than windows or atleast the same.

  • As much as I hate windows, I can't justify switching to Linux when I don't wanna use a terminal interface for 90% of my installs. Just because Windows has the worst monopoly I've seen ever, doesn't mean I am gonna drop all support for it for an OS that feels like I need to always have a guide open just to use. Same reason why you wouldn't tell an MacOS user to jump ship to Linux either, there's a pro and con to everything and I believe that having taken years to perfect my PC build, I refuse to compromise my power just because the cute little penguin is free

I doubt I’ll need windows for much of anything, I just play video games, really, and you can get steam and discord on it, so It seems like a direct upgrade so far. I shall try to learn more. Edit: the computers at my school actually use Ubuntu, and it’s quite pleasant to use, so it’s actually even more tempting.

  • I just recently switched to linux again, and I have issues with video codecs, video frame is choppy and have weird regional artifacts. Dedicated audio card keeps cutting out and I have to use motherboard audio instead. I don't game, so I don't care about having that on my computer. Everything else seems fine so far, but this Operating System will always be in beta mode if it doesn't have a dedicated support team that can fix issues within days or a week. How are people gonna switch to Linux with so many problems? It has to be dumbed down to the point where you don't open the freaking terminal ever. Are linux enthusiasts ever going to make that option? No, because they are so far up their own behind with their ears plugged, that even a minor criticism is offensive.

  • I Nvidia would stop being LAME and give us proper drivers for linux I would have happily left windows years ago but that isn't the case. If you go linux, you can't game dev properly because the drivers are have baked and you won't get optimum light baking or rendering times Its no joke, without all the drivers for the gpu subsystems and cuda/optix we get rendering times and build times that are 3x longer on linux. I could do everything in my life with linux, but nvidia has crap drivers for the linux community right now. I've wanted to ditch ms for years, but I have tested every major linux and tho everything works, the extra oomph of the gpu is wasted. Many great DCC softwares have excellent linux ports may, max, resolve, blender, unreal but the performance is definately not the same. Companies that use them have special programmers on staff to make it all go. The avrg person cannot get a linux version of a 3d prog to render at the same speed as the windows version, and the only reason is the driver support from nvidia. I hate windows. Its a pig. But I'll suffer windows for 30-60% more render speed
