  • I live in Northern California and the only Kiwi I have ever met was after I hiked to the tallest mountain in the Lake Tahoe area, Freel Peak. He was at the trailhead when I got back getting ready to go. He liked my hat with the logo “Santa Cruz Surfing Museum.” I thought he was an Aussie, but he quickly corrected me about that. I have wanted to go to NZ and Australia ever since.

  • A bit of accuracy is required , the New Zealand Glaciers are not receding but are actually growing and advancing . At least 58 New Zealand glaciers advanced between 1983 and 2008, with Franz Josef Glacier advancing nearly continuously during this time. “Glaciers advancing is very unusual-especially in this period when the vast majority of glaciers worldwide shrank in size as a result of our warming world,” says lead-author Associate Professor Andrew Mackintosh from Victoria’s Antarctic Research Centre. “This anomaly hadn’t been satisfactorily explained, so this physics-based study used computer models for the first time to look into it in detail.

    • Also from that article: "Several glaciers, notably the much-visited Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers on the West Coast, have periodically advanced, especially during the 1990s, but the scale of these advances is small when compared to 20th-century retreat. Both glaciers are currently more than 2.5 km (1.6 mi) shorter than a century ago. ... Associate Professor Mackintosh says although glaciers advancing sounds promising, the future “doesn’t look good” for New Zealand’s glaciers.

    • Dear Colbert Could invite rich Americans to put money in NZ and get us to build houses for them? We have lots of builders specialising in building wether proof houses ( NZ temperature varies a lot in a day) . We also have a lot of landscape designers. When the border is open they can come here. Our PM is very mean. She only allowed infected New Zealanders into the country. She just keeps spending money and stops anything that can make money for us. What a woman as you guys exclaimed. :)

Americans have investigated whether they qualify to move to New Zealand since the coronavirus pandemic took hold this year. Hundreds of thousands of foreigners from other countries are also inquiring about living here or applying for residency as the deadly pandemic sweeps the globe. With international death rates steadily climbing, our Pacific island nation is quickly becoming an attractive haven to live.
