  • Someone asked me what Star Trek meant to me. This. THIS is how I feel with TOS ... "For one quarter of a century, they have thrilled us with their adventures Amazed us with their discoveries and inspired us with their courage. Their ship has journeyed beyond imagination. Her name has become legend . Her crew - the finest ever assembled. We have traveled beside them from one corner of the galaxy to the other They have been our guides, our protectors, and our friends. Now, you are invited to join them for one last adventure For at the end of history lies…The Undiscovered Country. "

  • Wish the teaser for Avengers: Endgame were to look like this teaser. And if they did, it would be: "For over a decade, we’ve introduced an billionaire, an exposed scientist, a marksman, a skilled agent, a god & a super soldier. They’ve come together for their first gathering, embarked a new age and fought infinite forces. Along the way, they’ve brought in new allies from off-worlds to a sacred nation. They have been our defenders, our protectors, and our heroes. Next spring, you are cordially invited to join them for one last assembly. For, a part of their journey, is their endgame.” #Endgame

  • Meyer has an odd obsession with the title "Undiscovered Country." He tried to have The Wrath of Khan titled that, but was rejected. Not very meaningful in my opinion either.

    • "Undiscovered country" is from Hamlet and refers to death. For Star Trek II, it was probably meant to be a reference to Spock's fate, though you wouldn't realize that until the end.

  • The date is actually incorrect. It was released a week earlier. I remember because there was a blizzard in my town that night, and my friend and I had to dig his truck out just to get home after the movie was over. There wasn't any snow when we went in, and then two hours later it was up to our knees. My favorite part about this trailer is how if you compare the side by side images, you get similar but different stories which make for interesting juxtaposing. Such as Khan crushing the phaser in front of Kirk while right next to that Khan from STII is pointing at the viewscreen, or McCoy and Scotty holding Kirk back from opening the chamber in STII, right next to Kirk stopping McCoy from saving Edith Keeler. Or Kirk shooting Spock on the bridge right next to the image of Kirk getting sliced by Spock in the Pon Far ceremonial fight. I would love to see someone attempt this kind of trailer for the entire Supernatural television series but use "Baby" as the screen the images are being projected on instead of the Enterprise.

  • Why those bastards didn't advertise Star Trek Beyond with a 50th anniversary teaser trailer in this fashion is "Beyond" me. Pun intended by the way. Regardless Beyond was a great movie, but because it was poorly advertised it isn't looking like it will make it's money back for a 4th Kelvin timeline film. Sad but true.

  • Having just seen the first teaser for the upcoming "Star Trek Beyond" which is being released in Trek's 50th anniversary year, and seeing how frenetic it is, I had to come watch this old clip. THIS here, with images from the Original Series and the first five movies, with James Horner's music and Christopher Plummer's voiceover, is how you do an anniversary teaser for a beloved franchise. They should use this for teaching the art of the trailer in film school, if they don't already.
