  • Absolutely love your videos. I really want to see the Falcon Heavy launch. Can you please help me find accurate info on when and where? Was born in 70, was alive durring the moon shots but too young to appreciate them. Huge space fan. The Right Stuff movie got me hooked. In the mid 90's, I saw Apollo 13. I truly never knew of this. Also, October sky came out. I read 'Rocket Boys', the story is authored by the person played in the movie. I read many others. We grew up out from the public on many acres. Made battery charger bombs and such. I decided to build a rocket. My brother and I actually built some liquid fueled rockets. Lox/Kerosine... monstrosities, lol. Just about burned down our property. The math was beyond me. This got me on a path to go college and learn. Got a degree in engineering and Cisco/IT. Changed my life. Thanks for what you do. Inspire!

  • The only thing i dont understand, that concerns me a bit, is how all the Starhoppers look so dented and scuffed.. Like, why arent the panels smooth? Why are they all crumply and buckled on every square inch of it? Is that just because it isnt filled with fuel, hence there's no outward pressure to "inflate" the shape? I dont know, it just looks SOOO junkyard tech to me, like its about to fall apart any moment.

  • Artemis is never going to happen. To begin with, the politics are entirely against it. The Democratic Party controls the House of Representatives, which controls budget matters, and will likely control the Senate after next year's elections, and the Democratic Party hates Donald Trump with a purple passion. Anything that he favors, they are against. Anything that might embarrass him they favor. Therefore, they will never allow the Artemis Project to achieve its goal. The best that can be hoped is that it will become like SLS, a long standing, never ending, high tech jobs program with no goal or end in sight. Furthermore, even as I type, it is on the verge of being technologically obsolete. Every single one of its major components, SLS, Orion, and Gateway, are going to be completely outmoded as soon as BFR flies, which should be in two to four years. Indeed, SLS is already outmoded by Falcon Heavy. Even if Artemis received full funding, which is highly unlikely, there would be a very good chance that SpaceX would be able to put hundreds of people, and hundreds of tons of supplies, on the Lunar surface before Artemis could put three or four. I think we will return to the Moon in the middle of the next decade, but it will be on BFRs, with or without NASA participation. Really, the best thing to do now, from NASA's perspective, would be to cancel SLS, Orion, and Gateway, and give half of what is being spent each year on them to SpaceX for BFR development, and put the rest of it into developing a serious Lunar exploration program based on BFR. That is politically impossible of course. Congress, with its politically powerful members from Alabama, will never allow it, but that would be best. So, expect Artemis's timeline to slip to NASA's original 2028 goal, if it doesn't get cancelled altogether, and expect SpaceX to put America back on the Moon in the 2024 to '26 timeframe.

      jadidwetojadidwetoVor Monat
    • Well, there's just not much happening with Crew Dragon right now. They are investigating the explosion, and keeping pretty mum about whatever they may be finding. According to the List of Falcon 9 launches page on Wikipedia, the in flight abort test is now scheduled for late July, and Demo-2 for late 2019. The launch schedule at Spaceflight Now shows Demo-2 being scheduled for September 21, although that's a No Earlier Than date, so that may be more hopeful than realistic. Either way though, there simply isn't going to be any news about Crew Dragon until they announce the results of their investigation, and all we can do until then is hope they don't find some catastrophic design flaw.
