SCIENCE CLASS #4- How to Waterproof Your Hand

Lots of juicy demos relating to surface tension! NO CLASS THIS WEDS!! I'm filming one of my normal monthly videos that day. Back on Friday though!!
Go check out Dianna's awesome channel-
CHALLENGE- float as many paper clips as you can and then come up with a creative way to ruin the surface tension and have them all sink. Tag me on any social media with your responses.
Question for next time- How do astronauts weigh themselves when they are floating and weightless.

  • So when you brought up the tree example with adhesion, for some reason the first thing that came to my head was photosynthesis. Like the tree takes in the sun and in a sense ‘absorbs’ it and it makes it grow. 😅

  • I remember watching a “Mr. Wizard’s World” on Nickelodeon in the 90’s where he dusted the top of an aquarium filled with water and dropped a bolt in it. He reached for the bolt, and his hand was dry. Mind blown. Thank you for doing this because for the past 30 years, I’ve been wondering how he did that.

  • I don’t know if you have ever heard of a summer camp called “mad science” but we did all kinds of stuff like this, soap and water, dry ice stuff, robotics, general learning about science, that the only reason I knew what plasma was, cause we had one of those plasma ball things so we could learn an electricity.

  • I really enjoy your videos, and I noticed some of your captions have minor errors and wanted to help adjust them so that people with hearing impairment can enjoy your videos and understand them accurately. For instance, at 7:39 the caption reads ”it’s coming up to divine” but it should be “It’s becoming a tube of water”. I have created a list of other corrections if you are interested. Thanks, Porter (8th grade)

  • I wish schools had a system where they had their normal curriculum but on a certain day like every Friday, all the teachers find a topic to teach using real world problems/phenomena, like how mark does his science classes, so for example, geography class or history class would talk about an embarrassing or funny/interesting moment is U.S or world history, or a crazy place that defies all logic, and is mysterious like the place called the devils hole or something like that that has a hole in the water like a waterfall in the middle of a lake for unknown reasons. It would help keep students interested and enjoy school more. I know I would.
