  • EUFA are being really unfair on City and we could get banned from CL! But look what happened - just prior to FFP Sheik Mansour took over based on a careful plan and 35 days later a coach and horses was driven through that investment and plan with a new set of rules. . FFP seems like a restrictive practice which can stop investment and development, keep the status quo. City owner gives his own company 50 million Etihad and says add that to our sponsorship of City and EUFA say no - ridiculous. City have made the single most important and responsible investment in a community ever in the history of sport. Transforming a whole area of Manchester and they have not bought in Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar Mbappe and the like - we won the league with four players Mark Hughes bought ffs. EUFA cut City any slack for our responsible approach? For creating 2000 new jobs, building 6000 new homes on the old Maine Road site in Moss Side? A new school? A library? A community centre? A sports complex with 8 pitches? A women's team? 140 charity projects? A cerebral palsy team? (wheelchairs for that are amazing) A blind person's team? Free use of the pitches for 300 local school kids? Yeah EUFA don't mention all that do they! They just assume arabs are up to no good. It is they that should rethink their approach to City - they might realise what a great club it is with owners keen to do the right thing. By the way I did not see them sanctioning Man U for allowing the Glazers to dump all the debt (900 million) on the club and then the club pays it all back - their personal debts!!! City are doing everything right and very very responsibly and EUFA should be encouraging this kind of investment. Also why ban us that just hurts the fans players, tv viewers and football fans. FFP was not designed to prevent investment like City's but stop debts like United. EUFA should be looking to have City as a main partner - a responsible investor, the like of which is unheard of. Crikey redirecting £50 million of sponsorship money on one side to £1.5 billion on infracstructure and the community on the other - you'd think EUFA would be much more lenient. Fans and players do not deserve it!! .

  • I like the fact that we will play the second leg as a Real Madrid with nothing to loose....you wanna see football, we will show you football. There's nothing more dangerous than a Madrid that plays away... It was an anticipated draw or loss at home, but away, we demolish... Hold on to these words

  • Most of the time i don't agree with these guys but their analysis of this game is pretty much spot on. It's true Real Madrid have been at their best this season when they're being conservative. And that's the reason Zidane did not decide to commit numbers forward much against City. In fact, almost immediately after Real Madrid scored the first goal and pushed for a second he reverted to being conservative again by taking his best attacker, Vinicius off. And, as Alejandro said: that conservative defending style of play is not the Real Madrid way. They did defend great in the first halve of this season but, because defending is not in their nature, counting on their defense to win game was going to come bite them at some point. That's whats happening right now. They dominate games with possession as they did against celta, levante and even City in the first halve (they had 71! percent in the first 30 minutes or so against a Guardiola-team, i'm not kidding) but as soon as they do get a goal, they sit back hoping to score on the counter. Barring some games during the jose mourinho era, that 'park the bus' style of play is the exact opposite of what this club stands for. Real has always been abt going forward and scoring goals. The biggest problem they have now is they don't have anyone that can convert the chances they create. Personally, i think that issue will only be corrected when Mbappé (are some other proven goalscorer) arrives

Never in my life had I seen a player with so much energy, drive, intelligence, skill, leadership in bringing on attack after attack. Kevin's was the winning goal, finding the 12" gap in the far post that the godly heroics of Tim Howard could not cover, in over time.

  • Sometimes, when fans see 'chances', they assume that a team should have won and were unfortunate not to. A lot of times, finishing chances is about being composed and clinical. If you play Bayern Munich, you can create 15 good chances all you want, but if you don't take them........guess what, Lewandowski doesn't need 15 chances. He's far more likely to convert 1/3. After the match, we'll hear "Bayern should have lost, Team X was the better side. Bayern got lucky!". No, Lewandowski is a far better finisher than Team X has, and it was never likely going to matter how many chances they had.

  • They were right about one thing. Vinicius was constantly on the break, looking up for a teammate, with none to be found. Forcing him to slow things down and wait for a Modric or someone to arrive.

  • Apparently, Madrid players have complained about the Jesus 'push'. The first thing that came to my mind was that, of all teams, Madrid is in no position to complain about about that particular instance. Especially, considering who the defender was. Complaining about injustice against Ramos should just be illegal.

  • I think it'd be idiotic to rule a Madrid win in Manchester out at this stage....not only did they play well for a lot of this game, at least until the last 10 minutes, but you also have to factor in that they tend to perform better away from home in all competitions! Ajax....H: 1-4, A: 1-2 Juve....H: 1-3, A: 0-3

    Paul GibbonsPaul GibbonsVor Monat
    • @Paul Gibbons Let Madrid have Pogba. Even if Pep doesn't come. With the way that Setien likes to play, having someone like De Bruyne would make a huge impact on his system. From workrate, to vision, to accuracy of pass, to character. You would then have De Jong and De Bruyne in the same midfield. Busquets could be rested more, since he plays De Jong's best position. Now, they would still need to figure out the backline. Nonetheless, IF (Big if) De Bruyne becomes available, you get De Bruyne and deal with the backline later. They'll have to sell, in order to get the money, but they need to sell anyway. They never should have bought Dembele (Tactical fit, but immature away from the pitch), never should have bought Coutinho (Best space and position occupied by Messi), they really shouldn't have bought Griezmann (Same issue as Coutinho), but they might have to ride it out with him and hope that he adjusts to his new role. Otherwise, they'll need a Winger and a striker and then De Bruyne becomes doubtful, even if available. Rakitic should probably be sold. Vidal gives them that effort and fight that they need, but he's up there in age. He should probably be sold, because if he's an everyday starter (Which he wants to be and probably should be based on what they currently have), you have a problem. Sell Suarez, Dembele and Coutinho. You won't get what you paid for them, but take what you can get.

      Douglas TaggartDouglas TaggartVor Monat
    • @Douglas Taggart looks a very likely outcome. De Bruvne will be target number one if Man City lose there spending powers.

      Paul GibbonsPaul GibbonsVor Monat
    • I want him at Barcelona. If they move elections up a year, Bartomeu can be out this summer, with Victor Font coming in. If City lose their appeal, they'll have to start a sale, metaphorically speaking. Font could bring Pep in and could get De Bruyne to come with him.
