  • The achievement is even more impressive when you look closer... Federer's 8 at Wimbledon is an amazing achievement... but Sampras won 7... Djokovic's 7 at Australian open is an amazing achievement... but Federer won 6... These records will be broken... Nadal's 12 at French Open is out of this world extraordinary because the next closest is Bjorg at 6! Only 2 players have won more than 3 French Opens. This record will stand the test of times and will NEVER be broken. Boris Becker: "To win Roland Garros one time, is almost impossible. To win it five times, it is impossible. To win it ten times, I don't know the word"

  • Nadal's game is perfectly suited for clay in almost every way possible. Lots of spin on the forehand combined with the surface can constantly pressure the opponent and force them back or to take the ball on the rise which is difficult to do consistently. Incredible speed and defense combined with the slower surface allows him to get to balls that would have been winners 100% on other surfaces. Weaker opponent serves; big servers can't rely on winning service games against him and he doesn't struggle with his own serve since his serve has always been more spin focused rather than big fat ace down the T- focused. Additionally take the ball on the rise consistently (opponents) often eventually leads to the net where Nadal is so comfortable slamming backhand winners and forehand banana shots across. That's actually a position where the opponent is supposed to be at an adv( the net) but against Rafa it really isn't and to win a point you need have a good attacking ball from the beginning, insane reflexes and quick flawless putaways of the ball.

  • Damn, this combination of Rafa's gamestyle and clay surface, especially this in Paris, is a deadly combination. It has to be so frustrating playing there against Rafa. You can play out of your mind, the best match of your life and still every ball is coming back. This surface is not rewarding at all. That's why its so hard to beat Rafa there. On grass on the other hand you get rewarded for playing well and its easier to upset BIG3 there. Rafa will continue to domiante RG unless his physical shape declines significantly or Thiem starts to play smarter. He has game and physical preparation to beat BIG3, but he needs more smarter game than brainless ballbashing.

  • for some reason -maybe the perpetual sour look on his face- i do not like nadal at all. i dont care whether hes the best clay or mud or puddle tennis player ever. He seems to be out to literally devastate his coplayer. Opponent. whatever. ATHLETES are athletes. Professionals. YES I DO WANT to see a spectacular skills game. But if you havent got the soft skills, forget it. You dont make history only by beaating. You win it by inspiring others to LOOK UP to you for all the right reasons. It seems he brings out the "worst" in people...I mean aggression. Like what happens in football. He wont even touch FEDERERS pinky. Yes thats my humble opinion.

    • Marina hi! After watching Nadal for a few weeks ( I do not like being absolute about things I'm not so well-versed in) I have come to understand him...and see him...in a different light. I've seen his humanity..his Mediterranean temperament. And apart from his absolute inner power and drive ι truly enjoyed his doubles game with fed and djo where fed (I think they were friends then?) Was making fun of -in good humor- nadals grunts..I keeled over..and continue to do so. I truly feel for him...and you are right...he's not aggressive...he's a different version of Fed...that's why the 2 blend so we'll together off court...My public apologies to all Nadal fans.
