Though I agree this is one of her better dances, she was way,way over scored.
For everyone wondering why they got scored higher than skai, i think it's bc all of skai's lifts in her routine weren't the cleanest. I didnt think there needed to be so many lifts in her routine bc all the in between parts were fine. But idk that's my opinion i could be bias bc i love val so 🤷🏽♀️😂

Val never wear that wig again LOL. This was overscored imo. Val has done way better Tangos with previous partners. She's just meh. Laurie and Zendaya and even Janell and Danica would have ate this Tango alive. The one he did with Meryl Davis was heaven.
@Alexis George I’m only talking about Argentine Tango because you said Zendaya’s, Janel’s and Meryl’s dances were better and they never did an International Tango, just an Argentine one. You could’ve compared it to any International Tango Val previously did and I wouldn’t have said anything. Again, that’s the comparison of two different styles that I find ~unfair but you apparently don’t want to understand that, so have a good day.
@dwtsvalentin im comparing vals tango choreo to this one so its totally relevant because its same choreographer and Tango is Tango im not talking about argentine tango you are. I like his previous international tango choreo better! And his other celeb partners did Tango better rather it was International or AT still was better choreo. Period!
@Alexis George I think it’s pointless to compare dances from different styles, you wouldn’t compare a foxtrot and a samba and it’s the same thing with the International and Argentine Tangos but you do you, I guess... He choreographed the perfect Tango for the partner he has this season, it might not be the best Tango ever but he made her shine. You can see she’s working hard and improving every week and that’s what matters.
Point is they were better and his choreography for international tango has been better for other partners. Ive watched this show since the beginning i know all that already
All the dances you listed here, except Danica’s, were Argentine Tangos, this is an International Tango and is a completely different dance style than the Argentine Tango. Val did International Tangos with Sherri Shepherd (s14), Kelly Monaco (s15), Danica McKellar (s18), Tamar Braxton (s21), Laurie Hernandez (s23 week 3), Victoria Arlen (s25 week 2) and Sailor Brinkley Cook (s28).

Although I feel like the partnership lacks a special connection/chemistry, I see that they are working hard. And I really appreciate that Val isn’t “dumbing” down the choreo. He’s still giving her challenging steps to do. Sometimes I feel like Gleb and Daniella make their dances too simple and easy, and it doesn’t seem like the are really pushing their partners quite as much.
Seriously... Get rid of the male wigs hahahahahah. Poor Val looked so ridiculous I had no idea if Monica danced well or not because I couldn't stop laughing at the hair

Many of the dancers had errors last night hence the lower scores. This tango was fierce and sexy and I think the facial expressions and emotions were correct for this song.

Wonderful tribute to Tainted Love... Monica had wonderful shape and style and very impressive high kick... My favorite dance So far... 10/10

I’m sorry I love Monica from cheer but that was soo boring! I would watch Jeannie dance 10 times over than watch this and they scored higher ?!? Maybe a 7 at best but I do not think this was 9 worthy. They’re so on vals bird it’s not even funny. And having Sharna back after that bullshit last season in letting her go to give her a stiff partner is just not cool! Anyways cool whatever lol

Am I the only one who thought they were overscored to make up for what happened last week? I wouldn't be surprised if Val yelled at producers for the mix up.
There is no such thing as over scrored in my opinion. I do believe with underscoring though like with Jeannie Mai's Tango last week and Nikki Bella through Season 25, and some other things. Those were underscores.

She didn't emote very well. You could see her focusing on the steps in her face. The technique was definitely getting better. I really hope she gets a fun dance like the charleston to really get her to let loose and have some fun. 8.
Val put his all into making an 80s tango and I've gotta give it to him, it works. But whoa what a score, bit much. But I think the judge's were just happy to see more ballroom content.

You can tell her confidence is growing! Very good choreography with lots of content to show her off. I have found at times though that Monica has trouble staying steady. The sharp movements seemed to throw her off balance and cause a lot of gapping. She has trouble accentuating sharp lines which inhibited her technique, noticeably some gapping. However, she is still doing very strong, and I think she could stay safe for awhile longer as long as she keeps improving. 7!
She is still using so much cheer skill that it is almost preventing her from learning the technique. For flyers you have to be tight and stiff so that you don’t fall and she is so used to that so she isn’t as loose as some of the Latin styles I will say she is improving and is amazing, both as a coach for Navarro cheerleading and a dancer on live television
Agreed. She’s still a little stiff on the upper part of her body, but she was improving. Also needs a little more on her facial expressions, but I like seeing her progress!
