  • Konta is a beautiful athlete who can hit a ball harder than most women on a court and find good angles. But Marketa is such a beautiful tennis player, with a varied and very technical game, a great sense for the right shot, that I am glad that she won the match.

  • Unlucky Johanna - you had a great run, could have gone all the way to the final - 5-3 up in the first set, and 3-1 up in the second set - you might be disappointed to let those leads slip, but don't be too down on yourself - keep your now British chin up and say next time.

  • OMG how did Konta lose??? She was up in both sets?? You play to win not to lose! Needs to work on her mental toughness a lot more. Really needs to stay mentally strong and believe she can win! Stay positive jo! And you can do it 😃

  • lovely to hear Konta talking after losing or rather giving away the match on a "plate",,,,,this positive thinking psychologist certainly had it"s affect on her,,,,,,,,she talked about having five good matches ,,,,which wasn"t the question! she totally screwed this one up and would play the same shots again ,,,,,,what a well deluded woman she is!! she dare not speak the truth and prefers to play games with her mind to justify any of her own failings,,,,needs to move into politics with her mind set !!!!!!

    • @M Sniper OK, I see. Can't believe I didn't remember Lendl... :-) But in this case, you can say the same about many countries, the US for example... (which has a much larger population and tons of tennis academies). Not that I have anything against the Americans, Jack Sock being probably the most likeable player for me.

    • Ok I meant recent ,I know in past all of them include Lendl(Korda,Smid ,Stepanek etc) .The point is how Czech female tennis keep up so much all those years (Fed Cup wins),But male tennis except Berdych no one else on top 10-20 lately .

    • Tomáš Berdych, Petr Korka, Karel Nováček, Radek Štěpánek are first names which come to mind, not to mention Jan Kodeš who won 3 Grand Slams. Tomáš is one of only 3 players who have defeated all "big four" in major events (Federer and Djokovic the same year at Wimbledon).

The the video editor put the noises from the crowd in the video just to make it sound like there is a lot of people in attendance ????shameful schedulling of the women's draw.

  • Women players need to earn the popularity. Right now women's tennis is at a crisis with no major forces except for perhaps Halep, Osaka or Serena. When equal pay was being discussed, women's tennis had just finished experiencing the massive boom of stars. There were definitely times when the women's finals and semis were more revered (e.g. 95 Wimbledon, 94 USO, 05 Wimbledon, 08 Wimbledon). Even the women's doubles were packed in the central court. How new stars can be tested through time today is urgent.

    Qiu ZHQiu ZHVor 4 Monate
  • Really sad that there's hardly anyone there. I remember the old days of Pierce Hingis matchup, Seles Graf match up etc in the semis and there wasn't a spare seat in the house. What happened? I do have a feeling the new racket technology has not actually helped women's tennis. It feels a bit robotic perhaps and not as much variety. Maybe it's just me!

  • Konta cocked this one up big time. Twice in the lead, loses both sets... Well, I always found Konta kind of unlucky, somehow. Everytime things seem to go well for her, she tenses up and makes a mess of things. Anyway, the point at 01:02 is surreal in improvisation and perfection of execution. She keeps this up, Vondrou is the next big thing after Osaka.
