Is It Too Late To Stop Climate Change? Well, it's Complicated.

A special thanks to the team at Our World for helping us out with data and research!
Sources & further reading:
This video is part of a series about climate change supported by Breakthrough Energy - a coalition founded by Bill Gates, that is working to expand clean-energy investment and support the innovations that will lead the world to net-zero carbon emissions.

Climate Change is just too much. There is never any good news. Only graphs that get more and more red and angry. Almost every year breaks some horrible record, from the harshest heat waves to the most rapid Glacier melt. It’s endless and relentless.
We have known for decades that rapid Climate Change is being caused by the release of Greenhouse Gases. But instead of reducing them, in 2019 the world was emitting 50% more CO2 than in the year 2000. And emissions are still rising. Why is that? Why is it so hard to just stop emitting these gases?

For these negative desires, we will be competing for survival. To live comfortably, when the most comfort is laying on a hammock in the wilderness on the beach, at ur finger tips..... We are fully challenged, as we speak, these same implication has left the reptiles, the dino days to stay fittest.

  • At a few points this video talks about people still getting what they need... in reality it's the lifestyle of those that have far more than they need - and those seeking similar lifestyles - that really negatively impacts the planet. This culture of climbing the ladder to the point where you have a fleet of yachts and a private jet has absolutely got to go. We need to reevaluate what really makes us happy as human beings and I think we'll realise that it is not the vast wealth people strive for but something quite easily maintained for absolutely everyone on Earth. But where is the profit in that?

Two people getting two kids or less, means decline of population. Currently, Africa compensates the decline in the Western world and Japan, while Asia stabilizes. But in future, we get a global balance and topping of the population, sooner then we think.

    • @Patrik Banek "Why? Like 2-3 billion people will die 20-30 years from now?" Quite possibly, yes, and most of those people will be from poor third-world countries. Water dries up, the land becomes even more of a desert, even more hotter, and these are people who have no way to escape these conditions. They don't have air conditioner. They can't get bottled water. But when have we cared about these people? "There will be a 6th mass extinction, why" Why, we're already in a 6th mass extinction. Humans have slaughtered 60% of the wildlife. Things will dry out, get hotter, ecosystems will have to adapt really quickly which is quite literally, impossible, natural disasters becoming worse and worse, etc. Read up on the permian-triassic extinction, but we're going much faster and we're also directly doing it ourselves. Also, the ocean is acidifying. This will kill off nearly all sealife, and we already seeing it happen with the coral reefs. "there will be water shortages, food shortages, why, where, when" The planet gets hotter. Places will become too hot to grow food. Water will dry out because places will become too hot. Water shortages will have a huge impact on plants. Again, third-world countries will suffer the most at the beginning. "entire areas of the earth unsuitable for human life. like africa, antarctica and the oceans? If there will be new ones, where, when, why and how large" there's a reason why russia wants global warming. it'll really negatively impact those in the south, aka most of the population, and in the north they will be positively impacted since it gets warmer and conditions get more optimal for growing food and wildlife. places such as africa or south america will become too hot to support human life. dont be fooled though, the wildlife, humanlife, and especially sealife will be devastated by global warming. sea levels will rise, sparking mass-migration and wars over said mass-migration. we'll also run out of resources, again sparking wars. air-conditioner use will rise, further accelerating and increasing temperatures. ""This is quite a big deal." i don't think its gonna kill many, if any. just very gradually inconvenience a lot of people, like moving half a mile away from coasts in a 100 years, replacing certain crop production with imports.." it will kill many, i promise you. you'll have to really move up north to escape global warming, and at some point there will be no escape from it. again, it's not as simple as moving half a mile away from coasts when you have entire civilization built there and millions living there. you have millions homeless that have to move to even more crowded places. there will be conflict, there will be mass-migration, etc. you shouldn't make these dangerous assumptions when you haven't done the research. there's probably a boat-load of other catastrophic impacts global warming will have that i have forgotten to mention. do the research before you say that it's hardly gonna be a big deal.

    • @notanidiotasd51 "What predictions?" All the ones you gave me right after asking that I guess.. "Billions will die within decades" Why? Like 2-3 billion people will die 20-30 years from now? "There will be a 6th mass extinction" why "there will be water shortages, food shortages" why, where, when "entire areas of the earth unsuitable for human life." like africa, antarctica and the oceans? If there will be new ones, where, when, why and how large? "This is quite a big deal." i don't think its gonna kill many, if any. just very gradually inconvenience a lot of people, like moving half a mile away from coasts in a 100 years, replacing certain crop production with imports..

      Patrik BanekPatrik BanekVor 2 Tage
    • @Patrik Banek What predictions? Global warming is set in stone. Billions will die within decades, and that's not just humans. There will be a 6th mass extinction, there will be water shortages, food shortages, mass-migration everywhere. There will be entire areas of the earth unsuitable for human life. Mass-human suffering, if not death, is guaranteed. This is quite a big deal. HOWEVER, depending on the actions and breakthroughs we make today, we could still prevent the worst of this.

  • Humans can't control a virus... And these assholes are spending trillions with the stupid notion slogans and dogma that they can control the planet's CLIMATE "CRISIS"! (a crisis that does not exist! ) Writing the word "CHANGE" associated with "CLIMATE" will be a tautology...without temperature change up to down, there is NO CLIMATE! The human race is so sociopathically egocentric it created a plethora of GODS and GODDESSES... ANgels demons, hell, infernos, saints, virgins, and purgatory ...even Popes, sins, pardons representing (power of attorney) Gods, commandments (10, 12, or whatever?) Copycat Religions, Mesias, forecasters of hellish pain and\or heavenly glory...because they say so. Horus son of Osiris and Isis. The original Jesus Christ, also born from a virgin, kill and resurrected 72 hours later, to take the last train to heaven!!.... Only 3,000 years before Jesus. In sum LIES, LIES, AND MORE LIES!!! Haven't you notice that absolutely everything the governments suppose to do....IS IN THE FUTURE...A FUTURE THAT NEVER COMES!....And those governments are telling you that they have the power to solve a nonexistent "climate change catastrophe" for the last 50 years ...therefore they urgently need more MONEY!!! ...The world will end in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 ,100, 1000, 1,000,000 years in the future....daaaa! So, you dumb asses keep on waiting, believing stupid silly dogmas, THE VACCINE IS COMING ...MOMENTARILY! If you read serious scientific opinions (not the politicians)'ll come to the conclusion these viruses (COVID) may look like one...but it has more than 7,000 variations and life-lasting devastating effects. This pandemic may last more than 20 years and economic more or less recuperation certainly just judging by the up to date catastrophic effect will require at least 30 to 50 years to " never normalize" (it will be a "different" human society, a new world) normality by definition imply going BACK TO THE FUTURE!...not going to happen! NEW.....GREEN...DEAL?...really? It isn't new, it isn't green, and it isn't a deal! By the way, if it is "green" that means that it is CO2 based!!! Otherwise, there is no GREEN! (Photosynthesis, small potatoes) Net-Zero emissions? What? No breathing, no farting, no agriculture, no heat, no AC, no lights, no meat, no eggs, no fish, etc....? Humans are ~16% to ~18% CARBON! humans! Humans, animals, plants, and all living species eat CO2 Just an example, humans breaths 415 ppmv and exhale 40,000 ppmv of CO2...where the Sock do you think comes all that CO2? Soils alone emit 9 times more CO2 than all anthropogenic emissions, add to that the bottom of the oceans emissions, changes in orography and chemistry, volcanoes, La and El Nino-Nina....(you little rascals), WATER VAPOR! clouds ....Maunder Cyles translations: the solar system and galactic system....etc....etc.. trillions of parameters and variables... Heeere comes... GOD complex! The saviors of the planet, the greens with zero solutions to the non-existent catastrophe.... Paris Accord, Tokio Balls Protocol, My Left Ball the year 2050, by the year 2100...yes they'll be gone....WITH YOUR MONEY!!! In Gore's Greta's, Leonardo's IPCC, WALL STREET, BANKS yats, and Jets... Natural emissions like breathing are balanced out by natural sinks. Human industrial emissions are extra and can increase the co2 in the atmosphere.
