  • I can't say much about previous phases because I just recently heard about you through Jackie at NerdECrafter. I don't find you annoying at all. Though considering my husband is truly annoying sometimes, maybe that's why. ROFL. I am glad that you are taking their criticism well, but always take everything on Reddit with a grain of salt. Someone below made a great suggestion about breaking up the different kinds of content that DE-visions loves per week and that is a fantastic idea. That way you have something to look forward to. I think you are a fantastic artist. I wish I could afford to have you draw my character, I am sure it would be fantastic even if you put just a tiny bit of effort into it. I hope that you see this post and realize that you are still getting new fans even though Reddit says you are making clickbait content for kids. lol Speaking of the algorithm. I have been subscribed for I think 3 months? I just got this video in my feed.

  • Honestly, yes, clickbait is painfully annoying but at the time same I've either become numb to it or started to accept it because I understand that yt is crap and the creators I watch NEED to do that to maintain enough views to keep their production quality the same, if not better. As long as the content is of good quality I don't care what the title or cover photo is (to a limit of course 😅). You do you!

  • This video made me very emotional. I'm a recent subscriber, but I haven't been watching your more recent stuff because it did seem less-than-genuine (also because I avoid titles with emojis or all caps on principle lol). Your audience cares about you, man. I love your tutorial videos, but if that's not your Thing (tm) anymore, that's not what I personally want to see. We wanna see you make stuff that you care about.

  • I really can relate with what the redit people said. Ive been watching for a really long time and ive loved watching you grow as a youtuber but as you got to phase 3 it really didnt feel like you were being yourself. You started acting like you were constantly on crack and i missed the jazza i grew up watching. It became hard to stick around and watch your videos because you only showed us the 'im high energy good at everything' content and as an artist myself it can be hard to watch you be good at literally everything. It makes me feel almost less of an artist. You shouldnt ever have to feel like you have to be something you're not so that we will like you because trust me, people like me who have been watching since phase 1&2, we all love who you really are. The quirky, creative, compassionate, Jazza who may not get it right the first time but see's the value of perseverance when it comes to learning to draw. It was you that helped me get further obsessed with art to the point where im now making it my career. My favorite video you've ever made was your draw my life video. It's one of the reasons why i always stuck around so long. You were honest about yourself and you felt like a real person to me and not just as you said, a youtuber that is consistantly too obnoxious. You're the most well known youtube artist for a reason Jazza, so please just be you

I still remember the immense pride I had (and still have) at being one of your 3 million dots :D I'm so glad I stumbled across this tonight. I re-subscribed before this video even ended and now I'm going to go and check out what videos I've been missing!

  • You've probably heard this one before but: "When you try to please everyone, you please no one". That is why I say do what you like Jazza! I know you're running a business so it's easier said than done, but whatever incarnation is next for you, because of your passion and personality, the right people to support you will always show up. This situation is kind of like when you're in a relationship and you both have evolved and are now awkwardly trying to make sense of it. The choices are: you can either grow together, or part ways. Don't be afraid to let some of your viewers part ways with you, so you can evolve into something even more.

  • I'm not as much a regular watcher as I used to be, but I did feel the need to comment. Something I found myself mostly watching were the videos you seemed to have the most fun doing. Also you were too hard on yourself by not including that you are not the only one going through evolution phases. You can't please everyone and I wish you to find the nice balance you are looking for. Thank you for your content. 💞💞💞

  • Jazza! People change, to expect you to produce the same content consistently is a childish attitude. Also I think a lot of those people upvoting the post on redit might be failing to realize it wasn't you that changed but them, because they are also growing at the same time. I watch a lot of PewDiePie and he started with very basic, similar and clickable videos. Like a machine he churns them out pretty much every day and he's been in the game for 10 years. He says that the key to his happiness and success on youtube was to let go of what was expected of him and instead to do what makes him happy more often. People watch your channel to see you and what you can create and what makes you happy makes us happy. I think I come back and binge watch you every 1 to 2 months and I always enjoy seeing what new things you create and laughing along to your youthful Aussie humour (I'm a Kiwi, so I get it). I know you have quite a bit of self doubt, it pops up in your videos pretty regularly but I want to leave you with a quote from Mark Rosewater in regards to game design "If everyone likes your product no one will love it. And if you make a product that is loved other people will hate it" I'd love to see you continue to make something people can fall in love with, those 200k people on redit are the small percent of people who will hate it but the other 95% of your audience, like myself, will keep coming back.

  • Annoying? Who gaslit you. Be yourself Jazza do what makes YOU happy, nobody is perfect in this life, we’re all learning and growing and the moment we stop then we get stagnant . It’s the easiest thing in the world to criticise others and pick apart someone else’s creativity including ourselves. It’s so much harder to create there’s no right or wrong in art. Sure there are technical realms and strengths and weaknesses but never limit you or box yourself in. Look after yourself first the subscribers will follow regardless. I have 17 subscribers they know to expect nonsense but you make quality stuff. Good luck in your new journey and direction but make yourself happy before your perception of what you think will make others happy. IMHO

  • Honestly jazza phase three was where i was starting to dislike where the content was goin it just felt like the jazza video aspect was gone and replace with what feels like a popular gamer feeling channel but for art, and i always keep trying to come back, but it is hard, there were a few videos that felt like classic jazza tho, which made me happy what i loved abt the channel was still there, but oh so much playing up of things to the extent it just felt forced. And, despite the 5.33 million subscriber thing, I very much appreciate your intentions. Your public "existential" crises so to speak is admirable. Your directness, your lack of actual apology for being who you are yet apology to yourself and your subscribers for not being yourself is, well, kinda sexy. (Yes, I am a direct kinda person as well)(well, sorta, kinda... Wait, not sure now🥴🤓👍) Thank you for your video! It has inspired me as I go through this dark night of the soul process, showing me that even people who are charismatic and popular are not aliens and I am not one as well. Okay, that got kinda weird, but I'm gonna go with anyways. Take care, stay safe, healthy and, above all, happy!!

I always check in with the creators that I loved to watch to see how they are doing. I’m glad that you are thriving. But struggling as well, I hope this next phase I can watch you again and see you thrive and be yourself. The whole point of this comment tho is to say that I am and will always be proud of you. The fact that you took a step back and actually reflected on something especially on a place like reddit. I will be honest I unsubscribed a while back it wasn't you it was just the channel wasn't touching on the things I came to art youtube for. At the end of the day it is your channel and you do what is best for you and your family. • A little late to the party here but I'd say personally I missed the sort of intimacy your videos had. Things can have a big production budget and it'll be spectacular, but when you started out as I felt like I was sitting at the desk watching you draw and I'd sometimes draw along with you, a big production budget sort of makes me as a viewer feel like I'm watching you do stuff rather than doing stuff with you. That being said there's no reason you can't have some videos be big production spectacles but it's nice to still have some low-key giggles with Jazza. It could be a thing, to be consistently inconsistent. In summation I'd say just do what feels natural. In the world of art I've always appreciated people that sort of "do their own thing". But that's just my opinion. Whatever happens I'm sure you'll figure it out my dude, good to see you take criticism like a king. Looking forward to see what's to come.

  • Jazza you have inspired me to paint with your various videos and I went all out and bought medium to low tier stuff to see if I would enjoy it enough to go big later on. A decent indoor/outdoor easel. Different Canvases. Different papers. Oil paints. Acrylics. And water color. Plus not to mention many books on each, including Japanese Sumi painting which is essentially panting with only one color, black. I plan on going to Japan again and doing some outdoor art work, so the easel I bought hopefully will do the trick as it folds up and has spikes that are retractable and go into the ground. Keep doing what you do. You inspire us and give us a good laugh as well with your wonderful sense of humor. Cheers mate! Ps. It is good to have an assortment of things. You do not need to be a serious artist all the time churning out the same 10 min/1 min/10 sec art challenges. Or doing something epic. Or doing something where every single thing has to be unique in completely different ways. Personally for me it was the original French Jazza that really got me hooked. Your Aussie Bob Ross was a hoot. Your first VR fan collection you explored I have shared with many. Also your videos like the Magic Pad and Etch A Sketch will always have fond memories in my heart. So my suggestion... do a little of this and do a little of that. Don't get burned out on one thing and I suppose don't have us burned out on one thing either. Switch it up a bit. Maybe even dial it back a little. Don't get stressed out where you *have* to give us three epic works of art a week. Maybe give us one and then do lighthearted episodes. Get your wife back on here as well. ^^! Do what makes *you* happy, with consideration for the rest of us of course. Take care.

That's not necessarily when the disconnect happened but it's when it became clear that I no longer had a connection with what the video had become. I totally understood your reasons and how you got there but I came to the sad realization your channel was no longer for me. I watch a lot of youtube and seeing your videos pop up used to be like, YEA a new video to oh great another weird video where he doesn't draw. This has gone on too long, sorry. Like you moved to a new studio, had insane camera set ups and huge ideas for projects and I guess.. I couldn't relate to it anymore, yknow? Like I draw stuff and I make characters and just do whatever I feel like and you inspired me to keep going. I don't paint murals or make huge clay sculptures or giant cardboard castles. I don't care much about skits or build up intros or loud, bright colours. Kid friendly is great, i have no problem with the changes, it just wasn't for me anymore. I just liked to watch a guy draw and chill, yknow? But- I will never ask you to change what you're doing because it's not my cup of tea. Just be you, do whatever you wanna do. All that matters is you enjoying yourself. Your honesty and care have never changed. I haven't been here for a while but I see you still care deeply about your audience. • Thank you Jazza for the video. Why? Because subscribers like myself don’t ever stop to think about this being a legit career for you and all that it involves and how chasing the DE-visions algorithm can help or hurt you. You will never keep “all” of your subscribers happy. Everyone will always have an opinion. People tend to think about themselves and forget this is your livelihood. You’re trying to be creative, teach, entertain and be passionate about what you love, while doing your best to make as many subscribers as possible happy AND getting the clicks you need in order to stay relevant. I’m sure as long as you’re passionate about your next stage, everything is going to work out. Yes, you will possibly lose subscribers, but remember you will also gain new subscribers as well with the new content. And who knows, you may lose no one. I wish you nothing but the best! 🧐

The really problem is you didnt see YOUR AUDIENCE as growing in OUR skills & lives -- you pigeon holed us as at the level you first started talking to us at in Phase 1. So you didnt see it as a Relationship of Growth, you still treat it as a Hobby. Compare that to say DarkMatter#### (forgot the number... random numbers are bad for remembering) who over years and years got more and more sophisticated.
