  • $100K speaker. First it is put on a rocket where it will orbit the Earth for 90 days, that guarantees the MDF absorbs sufficient space dust. Then upon reentering the atmosphere, the space dust and the black piano gloss finish is seared into the MDF by the intense heat of reentry. It is then put into a decompression chamber, then an anechoic chamber and finally a cat scan machine. Then the finest cardboard fibers from China are brought in to delicately wrap the speaker in luxury. Lastly, a fine powder of unicorn poop and fairy boogers are sprinkled into the box and then sealed so some rich arrogant turd can purchase them and brag to his other arrogant turd friends that his speakers cost $100K. You are welcome.

  • Fun story: I bought a used Meridian preamplifier that was working perfectly, sent it back to Meridian in the UK for upgrades, got it back and it blew up my tweeters on the first go. Ofcoz the technicians at Meridian did not belive me, I explained exactly how to provoke the problem and I think they nearly blew their tweeters too. A nasty SW bug produced a digital stream, at maximum amplitude, of horrible noise straight out on the analog output! Took 6 months to sort it all out with them replacing my busted speakers and all. That is not something you expect when paying top dollars... but the thing is pure magic so I am not angry about it.

  • Looks nice, but the reason the factory is empty is because it's where they give tours, and they only build their top of the line speakers there. Everything else in the range which is all mass produced is made in China.

  • Well.. Only thing the LG speaker and Meridian speakers have in common is that both are speakers. But that's where it ends. The trend of using bluetooth speakers and soundbars at home is sad to see :/ People actually throw out really good systems for these things :/ What a downgrade. But where did we see how they make a 100.000 dollar speaker? That was the reason I clicked on the video.
