Here's a basic question. At what threshold velocity does an even faster pitch look essentially the same to the batter? I am thinking, to the human cognitive system, a 95mph and a 99mph fastball may look identical. Another way to look at this is - beyond what speed is a fastball just wasted energy?

Yu Darvish should have won the award instead. Trevor may have had a good year, but to win the best pitcher award with a .556 winning %, when Darvish matched him almost statistically in every category but also had a .727 winning % just seems wrong in my opinion.
