And I only found out that b4b has passed away when I was searching b4b on my PC to subscribe and saw b4b funnel. Then I realized I was late and the channel was inactive. I do not know and why he passed, all I need to know is that he did a fantastic job and I am grateful that I happen to stumble into this channel

  • The last minute of this vid was depressing. Germany is losing itself and simultaneously brain draines southern europe. A lose lose. I think Japan has gone the right way. they may experience some decades of economic strain but automatisation will kill millions of jobs anyways. And while in germany inequality has dramatixally risen, in japan the society has stayed fairly equal. in the future Germany, my neighbor country, will see millions of unemployed besids the hundered of thousends of allready outcompeted workless germans....

  • Ok I get now what is wrong with this video... germany really felt only once, at the end of ww2. WW1 was the definition of a pirrhic victory for the entente, particularly for the french who would end up with such a terrible demography that they would start ww2 with 3 times less young men than the germans. Economicaly speaking, by 1925, germany was the richest on a per capita GDP basis on the continent, because their land hadn't been touched by ww1. As for the "unfair versailles treaty", I can't believe by now 2020 this zombie lie keeps coming back: They didn't pay the war debt anyway, and got away so easily compared to the defunct ottoman empire and austrian-hungarian empire, only because Wilson refused to go hard on them : the french plan was that as germany was so populated, it needed to be cut in two states, so that balance of power in europe would be restored, a bit like the 1815 congress of Vienna (remember that by 1918 Germany was not even 50 years old, and quite a few, in bavaria for example, were not to fond of it). Instead he had a plan, to keep germany and its industries intact so that 1/ they could be a peacul and protifable trade partner (look at Wilson 14 points, he is only speaking about trade, the guy is the forefather of globalization). He convinced the french they would be safe by 2/ promising a military alliance which would prevent any german agression... Well, 1/ it didn't work, as soon as the US market crashed in 1929, the german market followed, and disgrunted german citizens started to listen to some crazy dude and go warmongerer (I am wondering now, we have fed China to the point of it being a superpower, what would happen if there were a world economic crash?), and 2/ the US refused to sign the military alliance as soon as the french had signed the versailles treaty. At least the US would later understand what needed to be done, too bad it only took one world war too much. So yes, there really is only 1 fall for germany, that is 1945, and Germany has never recovered from it. They are the largest european country, with 82 million people, but the french with 67 millions are not too far behind (germany used to be twice more populated than france, the uk and Italy), and the aging german population, with a very low birthrate, can not keep up (it can remind you of the french birthrate during the 19th century and its effect on the french relative power): to keep up demographically speaking, they would need to take one million syrians every couple years, and due to the backlash after doing so just 5 years ago, they are not going to do so again. As a conclusion, I would say that Germany had a window of opportunity, from the mid 19th to the mid 20th centuries, but are now slowly, but surely, decreasing in power status, just as the french slowly decreased in power status from the napolenic wars to ww2. It does not mean that germany is irrelevant, nor about to be, just like the french didn't suddenly become irrelevent after napoleon, but there is no big rise incoming.

    • @So Who's the Dummy Now? They paid it AFTER WW2, so it has nothing to do with anything pertaining to INTERWAR germany... I repeat, during the interwar, germany only made some payments in the very early 20s, and anyway, considering they had no army, they didn't have to pay 5-10% of their GDP in it as other nations did at the time. "That war debt came with a huge price, don't like to see the issue tossed aside like it was nothing. That debt actually shaped history." That is where you are wrong. What shaped history was the wall street crash (just compare the german election of 1928, 10 years after ww1, the nzis receivved 4% of the votes, after the crash, 40%), or the too lenient versaille treaty (once more, the US did at the end of ww2 exactly what the french wanted to do at the end of ww1).

      m nm nVor 7 Tage
    • @m n "They didn't pay the war debt anyway," Of course they paid it, and it took until 2010 to pay it off, and it very well could have been the cause of the second WW. That war debt came with a huge price, don't like to see the issue tossed aside like it was nothing. That debt actually shaped history.

      So Who's the Dummy Now?So Who's the Dummy Now?Vor 7 Tage
    • @So Who's the Dummy Now? Yes, Germany repaid its debt AFTER WW2, not during the interwar, as for the number you are giving it is the war reparation of both WW, plus the debt Germany had taken from the US during the interwar and didn't repay at the time neither. I don't get your second paragraph, the rise in relative power of Prussia/ northern confederation/germany comes from a growing population leading to germany ending up being more populated than france during the second half of the 19th century, then bypassing every countries except russia by a large margin.

The country is unbelievable rich but the people there are robust (see Corona), superior in technology, culture, art and science. Germany dominates today our world and does not use any weapons to attack other nations.

    • @Fantasia Manufacturing is everything these days. Germany also is tops in science and engineering. Don't knock them. Yes, you have to keep your eye on everybody these days. The Chinese have been over in the EU trying to get them to sign onto their "One Belt, One Road Initiative" or make them their big trading partners. Italy has already signed onto this, and guess why Italy got coronavirus? Because they had thousands of Chinese workers making all those genuine Italian products in Italy, while Italians were out of work. Most people don't know this. The US has never had good trade relations with Europe since the EU. China and the EU are seeking dominance together as trade allies. Next allegiances would mean they drop out of NATO. I suppose we will have to fight them all over again some day, sigh.....

    • Germany dominates today? Not even close to true. Its a powerful manufacturing power sure, but don't act like Germany is some benevolent superpower that would never attack such weak nations around it. This isn't 1900 anymore. It isn't superior in much but manufacturing. Germany is a great county, but be careful to not choke because of how much you're blowing Germany

Ask them what Germany gets out of signing that agreement. Vague answers amount to money going into political coffers and individual pockets. It's the same here in the US. If something doesn't make sense it always boils down to who got paid off.

Germany is dependant on french nuclear electricity, else its coal again. Both former colonial empires have close relations with their former colonies or commonwealth. Germany job market is filled with precarious jobs (jobs you can't make a career of). It may have a better economy, but it's not a political or military leader. Yeah it has a bit more money but it's not the leader.

      Dimitrios KolokasDimitrios KolokasVor 7 Tage
    • @Dimitrios Kolokas I read from your post that Germany attacked France 3 times. But I pointed out that France attacked Germany first in WWII, because of their alliance with Poland. They did not wait for Germany to attack them first.

      So Who's the Dummy Now?So Who's the Dummy Now?Vor 7 Tage
    • @So Who's the Dummy Now? Thank you for confirming my point. So, in WWI Germany attacked France first. And then Germany started WWII.. 💝

      Dimitrios KolokasDimitrios KolokasVor 7 Tage
    • Congress of Vienna was in 1815, after Napolean Bonaparte ripped his way through Europe. He did it for France. France is the leader of nothing. The people there are still pissed off they lost lingua franca. Germany attacked France first in WWI as part of an inevitable strategy. Because Germany was planning to attack Russia, and they knew France would honor its alliance with Russia. Since a war on two fronts was inevitable, they decided to strike first so they would keep the initiative. Regarding WWII, on 3 September 1939 France had declared war on Germany, following the German invasion of Poland. In early September 1939, France began the limited Saar Offensive. So France was the aggressor here, based on their alliances. If you notice, the entire war game and whether you get pulled into it, is about alliances. One Country today, the United States is so powerful an ally that Countries do not have to fear being attacked, as no one wants to poke the bear.

      So Who's the Dummy Now?So Who's the Dummy Now?Vor 7 Tage
    • @N its not only about the past. Nowadays, France supports an actual European union while Germany opposes to it as much as it can. Let me be clear though. German politicians do the right thing, because right now Germany is by far the most powerful country in EU and benefits the most among the big countries within EU. Hence, they don't want to risk this position for an actual union. In general, even though Germany is Europes strongest and richest country is lacking empathy and vision, whichnis necessary for a leader. This makes Germany a great powerhouse, which is opposed though to the Pan-european project.

But like it didn't say anything of substance, it just glossed over 120 years of history and didn't even do it in an interesting way. Like it really said nothing about nothing. There are like 3 other channels I watch occasionally that do this much better. Probably got this video recommended to me because of watching those other ones, but this just wasn't an interesting video. Check our Eastory or Real world lore for some better videos.
